I went, I ran, I froze my ass off (seriously peeps, my ass has NEVER been so cold while running in my LIFE), and I finished.
And it wasn't pretty. My 2:44:20 finish time is my slowest 1/2 Marathon time EVER (but it includes an 7 minute wait for a 30 second porta-potty stop at mile 7...My Garmin time was 2:38...GAH), but still I was unbelievably SLOW...and did I mention Effing COLD?
Also...Many props to Walter, my love and life-partner, who is the best freekin' Sherpa EVER! I do love this guy...
I'll make a full race report later this week, but until then there's this.
Walter took the photo at about mile 13...do I look relaxed? No? I didn't think so. But I am still running, so that's a good thing, right?
And of course this...
It took awhile to get to them, and they were only average Mimosas at the MGM, but they well earned, for both of us.
Congrats!! Sweet tribute to Walter too :)
ReplyDeleteWOO HOO!! And three cheers for your Sherpa!!! I hope he downed his mimosa too! You both deserved them! Great job, chica!! You rocked Vegas!!
ReplyDeletewell earned mimosas. good job!
ReplyDeleteDid you actually say that you had a 7 MINUTE POTTY STOP! Ah! That is SO frustrating. Sorry about the frozen fanny...
ReplyDeleteNice job and congrats on the finish. You earned those mimosas. I got the impression that you didn't like running in the cold, does that mean there won't be any trips to MN to run?
ReplyDeleteYou did it... frozen butt and all! Those mimosas look like just what you needed after an ass-freezing 13.1 miles.
ReplyDeleteCongratulations!
Uh oh sorry bout the port-o stop! I sooooo know what that is like.
ReplyDeleteBrrrrr...it was really cold here today, I couldn't imagine running at race in 30 degree weather.
Nice medal! Good for you running the whole thing!Hopefully you were numb enough not to feel pain. Mission accomplished.
ReplyDeleteGrrrrr. I hate cold! Too bad it wasn't a perfect day but hey, you did finish. Good girl!
ReplyDeleteCongrats on the finish! Nice job and looking forward to the "long" report!
ReplyDeleteCongrats on the finish!
ReplyDeleteWoohoo! Congrats!!
ReplyDeleteCongrats!! A finish is a finish!!! 7 min wait for a porta potty. I would have wet myself!
ReplyDeleteYou know what - you pushed for 13.1 miles and that's not just a walk in the park! And I'm sure standing around for 7 minutes didn't help either.
ReplyDeleteMmmm. Mimosas. Congrats on your finish.... even though you froze your ars off!
ReplyDeleteLooking forward to the recap between arriving in Las Vegas and downing those MGM mimosas.
ReplyDeleteI have heard this race can be COLD. Who would think in the desert. Good job despite all this.
ReplyDeletewaiting for potty breaks was the biggest complaint from runners when i ran the lv marathon a few years ago. my total wait times adeded up to more than 15 minutes.
ReplyDeleteCongrats on your 1/2 in the cold!
ReplyDeleteNice job on the finish, in cold conditions! At that distance, a finish is a finish is a finish, the way I see it! :-)
ReplyDeleteCongrats on your half. We were in Vegas several years ago the weekend of the race and it was so cold so I can only imagine how cold you must have been. Nice job!
ReplyDeleteI'm so proud of you!!!!!!
ReplyDeleteCongrats on the race! I'm also waiting for Irene's recap of the LV half. Can't believe it was so frakkin' cold there, sheesh!
ReplyDeleteCongrats! But was it actually cold, or just cold by So. cal standards?
